A very generous mompreneur recently sent me her product Lil’Hot Heads. This clever product is simple in design — a comfy, adjustable fleece band that has an opening into which you can slide ice packs designed specifically for the product. I’m telling you, this is sheer genius. My family loves this product and it has so many uses.
The first time we used Lil’Hot Heads, my oldest son had been home from school with a high fever for almost a week. Motrin and Tylenol weren’t doing the job. Though a cool bath and an ice pack on his forehead finally brought his fever down to a safe level, I found that a regular ice pack (the type that I use for packing lunches) wasn’t really designed well for the task. It was hard (not so comfortable for a little head that was already feeling miserable) and it didn’t stay on his head, so I had to sit and hold it in place for him. Lil’Hot Heads elimiates these problems. The band has velcro, so you can wrap it around your child’s head and adjust it to just the right size so that it doesn’t slip or fall off (no more holding the packs in place). Also, the ice packs are flexible, so the band bends easily and wraps comfortably around your child’s head. Plus, the product comes with two ice packs so that you always have one chilled and ready to go.
The second time we used Lil’Hot Heads wasn’t for a fever at all. My younger son had hit his head and had a good sized egg growing on the top. I immediately grabbed our Lil’Hot Heads band and one of the ice packs from the freezer. The fleece band was soft and gentle on his sore little head and the cool pack immediately helped to calm him down. (The fact that the band came in a cool camo fabric pattern didn’t hurt either.) He loved the product so much that he insisted on wearing it to bed, long after the ice pack had lost its chill.
Despite it’s name, Lil’Hot Heads isn’t just designed for heads. It can be used anywhere on the body to ease bumps, bruises, and sore muscles. You just wrap the band around whatever body part is ailing you. The product also isn’t limited to the kids. As a migraine sufferer, I can tell you that there is nothing that gives me more relief than a cool pack at the base of my head. I’ve got those ice packs chilling and ready to go the next time that I feel one brewing.
