Thanksgiving decorating ideas for the home and your table.

The nor’easter that dumped several inches of snow here yesterday got me thinking that the holidays are just around the corner.  So although it is halloween today, my mind is about a month ahead thinking about Thanksgiving.

If you are hosting a meal this season, here are some lovely suggestions that will make your gathering both beautiful and family-friendly.

1.  Consider HGTV‘s suggestion of setting up a kid-friendly section of the table, complete with Thanksgiving themed crafts.

 2. Get creative with your table’s centerpiece.  For a variety of easy to make, yet beautiful centerpiece ideas, visit Martha Stewart.com.

3.  Use cloth napkins, napkin rings and place cards.  No need to buy anything fancy.  Look to nature for inspiration and make your own.

4.  Serve a signature cocktail.  Cranberries, cinnamon, orange liqueur?  Need some inspiration?  Visit The Kitchn.com for a round up of cocktail recipe suggestions.

5.  And most importantly?  Relax.  Burnt bird?  Spilled cranberry sauce?  No worries.  Keep in mind that the real reason the holidays are important is because they give us the opportunity to gather with family and reconnect.  Happy holidays!
